| Saturday, July 04, 2009 So it is July and half the year has flown by. This year I have fallen behind in some of my resolutions, I would say that work is the main culprit. Work takes up a lot of my time nowadays, and it seems that a lot of what I do has to do with work. Nevertheless, career can be an important part of one's life especially at this stage, and with the results that I am getting, I do not particularly believe that it is such a bad thing. Anyway I am having loads of fun at the moment. I do have a Korean exam tomorrow, which is terrible, because I have a whole list of vocabulary to memorise. Though it is still great that I can read, because I never thought I would have the patience to learn a new way of writing, which was one of the reasons why it was so hard to pick up Japanese properly. But perhaps it is because I am going to a class which helps make the learning more fun and easier as well. But memorising in another language words for strawberry, hat, sea and waves takes me back to primary school. Though it never seemed to be so hard to remember that hat meant...hat ! If you understood that at all. How did we know that meant hat ? But why is it so hard now to say hat in another language. It was not that hard to learn it in Malay. Time flies so much now that sometimes I cannot even remember what I did the previous weekend. I only remember that I watched Transformers at Cyberport after some drinks with the colleagues. Saturday was a day spent at Megabox, where we went ice skating, playing arcade games and then bowling till almost midnight. Sunday, was a lot of sleep plus Korean, and that was another weekend flying by. Luckily of course 1st of July waa holiday, one of the rare times, and it was great to have a midweek break. It brings back memories of when I would schedule Wednesdays off during university times. Having had a night of poker with colleagues the previous night, I woke up late, and did some grocery shopping and realised the newsstand under my apartment block was closed. Then made my way to a friends birthday party where Wii and Mahjong was involved. We had pizza and sushi for dinner. Work flew by again, which included meetings with some Koreans, though it was hard to understand them. And now it is the weekend again. Revision for exams....tomorrow. Perhaps a break for poker ? Or maybe a movie. Watched Night at the Museum the other night, which was just alright, not particularly fantastic. Looking forward to Harry Potter though. |
